July 2005

Urgent prayer request
Urgent prayer is requested for Dwayne and Janet Harms, their children and the congregation at Living Hope Church. The doctors are suspecting that Dwayne has renal cancer. A biopsy was done this past week and as soon as the results are back we will pass on any information to you. In the mean time we covet your prayers on behalf of this family and on behalf of the church. If you wish, you can follow Dwayne’s journey at his web site

Close call for the Jantzens
Last Sunday Archie and Erna Jantzen were involved in a serious collision near Arelee in which a vehicle pulled out onto the highway right in front of them. Praise the Lord that no one was killed or seriously injured.

Pastoral changes
@ Lucky Lake – Wes and Wendy Schatz have resigned after almost ten years of ministry at Lucky Lake. Please pray for the church as they begin the pastoral search process. The Schatzs plan to stay in Lucky Lake at the present time.
@ Forest Grove – Two staff persons from Forest Grove Community Church in Saskatoon have recently left. Mark Trew, Young Adults Pastor, has gone to live in El Salvador with his new wife Susana; and Paul Woodburn, Music/Worship Pastor, will be leaving to accept a position at Bethany College. Pray for Forest Grove Church leadership as they review these positions and determine how to carry on these ministries.

Bible camps bustling
Several weeks of camp have already taken place at Redberry and West Bank Bible Camps. Pray for physical and spiritual strength for the staff and pray that many campers will make decisions for Jesus Christ.

Bethany College impacts God’s world
Many young adults make life-changing decisions at Bible colleges across the country and Bethany College is honoured to be a part of walking students through some of their challenges. Pray for and encourage students to enrol this fall. Praise God for the 63 freshman students that have already enrolled and please also pray for 19 more freshman students to enrol this summer.
Pray for our students as they serve in camp ministries throughout the country and in the mission field. Pray for the many who are working this summer to pay off student debt and are returning this fall to continue studies. Pray that each of these students will honour God in their work experience through integrity, honesty and service.

Borden baptisms
Recently Borden MB Church celebrated 100 years of ministry! Baptisms at Long Lake are a rich part of their church history. Today this congregation will continue to build on this rich spiritual heritage as four youth and two adults will be baptized in a service at Long Lake. Praise the Lord!
