Church prayer bulletin

March 2009

Please place the following weekly prayer requests in your church bulletins on the designated Sunday, and if possible pray about the need during that same service. We also encourage the entire church to follow the weekly pastor/church prayer schedule of the senior pastor.

Thank you for your prayer support!

Monthly prayer focus

The long cold winter days give way to spring this month. Pray for an arising of spring time in our hearts and that a new passion for Christ will spring to life in the hearts of individuals and churches.

March 1

Half way through their sabbatical

Pray for Pastor Mike Housek from Beechy as he enters his third month of a well-deserved six month sabbatical. Pray for a profitable time of refreshment for him. Praise the Lord for the past 21 years of ministry that Mike and Connie have given at Beechy. Please also pray for a good spirit of encouragement as Conference Minister Ralph and his wife Grace Gliege minister to the Beechy congregation today.

A reunion of sorts

Today Director of Harvest Saskatchewan Dwayne Barkman preaches at Faith River Christian Fellowship, a church that is very close to Dwayne’s heart as it is a daughter church of West Portal. Pray for a powerful ministry of God’s Word to this congregation.

March 8

God is @ work!

Pray for the provincial Mennonite Brethren convention taking place this Friday and Saturday in Saskatoon. Pray for the congregation at Faith River as they prepare to host the convention, for travel safety and good weather, and that the reports and decisions will be life changing and God honouring. As we declare that God is at work, pray that we will allow him to work in our lives so that we can work with him for Kingdom purposes.

March 15

Waldheim focus on missions

Pray for Director of Church Ministries Ralph and his wife Grace Gliege as they minister today at the Waldheim MB Church missions service. Pray that hearts would be moved to have a heartbeat for harvesting.

Celebrating eight years of ministry

Tonight Living Hope Church in Saskatoon celebrates eight years of congregational life. Celebrate with them and pray in agreement with them, that they will be effective in reaching their neighbours in their Silverwood community.

What’s our mission?

On Wednesday and Thursday the congregation at Hope Fellowship will experience Summit 2 of the Refocusing process. Pray for this congregation as they address questions of mission at this summit – “who is our mission field and what must we do to reach them?”

March 22

Pierceland prayers

Pray for Director of Harvest Saskatchewan Dwayne Barkman as he plans to spend time in Pierceland this weekend. Pray that God would give discernment in coming to an understanding of the future for this congregation. Pray for Rob and Tricia Kroeker as they minister there. Give thanks for the safe birth of their new daughter, Norah, who was born on February 4. And also, praise the Lord for the congregation at Northwest Community Church in Meadow Lake as they send people once a month to minister at Pierceland.

March 29

Kelly Wiebe = lead pastor

Today is a day of celebration as the congregation at West Portal Church commissions Kelly Wiebe as lead pastor! Kelly and his wife Sandie have served faithfully for almost 13 years as associate pastor at West Portal. Thank God for men of character such as Kelly. Pray much for him as he assumes this new role and this great responsibility.

Exploring the nature of a missional mindset

Pray for the church board from the Northwest Community Church in Meadow Lake as they meet for a retreat this Friday and Saturday. Pray for Dwayne Barkman as they work together to explore the nature of a missional mindset.

If you have something that you’d like prayer support for from your fellow member churches of the Saskatchewan Conference, please forward it to the website coordinator.
