Church prayer bulletin

January 2010

Please place the following weekly prayer requests in your church bulletins on the designated Sunday, and if possible pray about the need during that same service. We also encourage the entire church to follow the weekly pastor/church prayer schedule of the senior pastor.

Monthly prayer focus As we enter a new year, be reminded of the new relationship we experienced in coming to know Christ. Give thanks to God for that relationship and pray for those who still need to experience this newness in Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

January 3

Saskatchewan sabbaticals

Today Pastor Darren and his wife Kandi Holland return to their pastoral duties at Philadelphia MB Church near Watrous following their four month sabbatical. Pray for a joyful and energetic re-entry as Darren preaches today. Today also marks the beginning of a sabbatical for Pastor Steve and Trish White at Christian Fellowship Church in Lanigan. Pray for a good time of rest and refreshment for the Whites. Director of Church Ministries Ralph and his wife Grace Gliege will be ministering and speaking in Lanigan today at the Whites’ “send off” service. Pray that the ministry of the Word will prepare the congregation for this time of sabbatical for their pastor.

January 10

Listening & learning at Bridgeway

Pray for Director of Church Ministries Ralph and his wife Grace Gliege as they minister today at Bridgeway Community Church in Swift Current. Ralph will also be interacting this afternoon with the congregation as they listen and learn together in discussions about “Leadership and the Congregation”.

Transitions at Living Hope

Pray for the congregation at Living Hope Church in Saskatoon as they are in transition following the recent resignation of Pastor Joel and Jeannette Diamond. Praise the Lord for his provision of Dan and Helen Harder who begin serving today in a part-time role of interim support, including pulpit ministry. Dan previously served as Youth Pastor at Parliament Community Church in Regina from 1992 to 1997.

January 17

There’s excitement in Yorkton!

Today is an exciting day for Parkland Community Church in Yorkton as they commission their new pastoral couple, Brian and Rachel Ray. Pray for an effective ministry for the Rays; that their son, Tyler would adjust to school life in Saskatchewan; and that God would direct the Rays to a house that will be suitable for their ministry and family needs.

January 24

Canada-wide retreat

Today our conference minister, Ralph Gliege, is in Winnipeg for a retreat with the other conference ministers from the Canadian Conference of MB Churches. Please pray for Canadian Conference Executive Director David Wiebe as he gives leadership to this retreat. Please also pray for a rich time of physical and spiritual refreshment for all attending.

January 31

New pastor joins the West Portal team

Pray for Pastor Alan and his wife Holly Whyte who began ministry on January 12 as associate pastor of care and spiritual growth at West Portal Church in Saskatoon. Pray that Pastor Alan and Holly will quickly feel “at home” and pray for an effective ministry together with West Portal’s team of pastoral staff and volunteers.
